The most powerful all-electric BMW will launch in Australia Q4, 2023.

Electric motors at front and rear axle combine for a stonking 485kW and up to 1,100 Nm of torque to push the big BMW i7 M70 xDrive to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds.

Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h as you cruise for up to 560 km of driving range (WLTP) with a 106kWh battery onboard.

Delivering all-electric performance in the luxury segment, the fifth generation BMW eDrive technology continues to evolve for better power output and efficiency of the high voltage battery and charging technology.

The BMW i&0 M70 xDrive comes with highly integrated drive units at the front and rear axles that bring together the electric motor, power electronics and transmission within a single, compact housing.

The two motors work according to the principle of an electrically excited synchronous motor.

The design makes it possible to completely avoid the use of rare earth metals in the manufacture of the rotor.

An M-specific configuration of the drive system enables the BMW i7 M70 xDrive’s rear-axle motor to achieve unprecedented levels of power density.

It generates peak output of 360KW that interacts with 190kW front axle motor to generate 1,015Nm of torque in Sport mode and up to 1,100Nm when M Launch Control or M Sport Boost is selected.

The drive unit has a six-phase design with a dual inverter to form the basis of on-tap power up to high speeds – so the power delivery feels likes a traditional M series.

The i7 M7o xDrive can AC charge at up to 22kW as standard – DC power can be drawn in at up to 195KW.

Which translates to the option to extend driving range by 170 km in ten minutes during a mid-journey stop at a high-speed charging station.

Or if things are looking a little less sparky, you can activate MAX RANGE and increase range by up to 25%. You get restricted drive power, limit top speed to 90 km/h and lose climate control, seat heating/cooling and steering wheel heating. Which is all preferable to a roadside assist situation.

Standard spec for the M70 includes M-specific adapative two-axle air suspension with electronically controlled dampers and automatic self-levelling.

M-specific air springs with reduced volume and an adapted rolling contour increase the number of vibrations on the front and rears by six in each case and provide a direct connection to the vehilc body. M-specific hydraulics also optimise damper response.

An additional shear panel between the bulkhead and spring strut towers increases body rigidity. The standard inclusion of Integral Active Steering and Executive Drive Pro chassis includes active roll stabilisation.

All of these come together to deliver dynamic performance and exhilirating driving dynamics including sharp and precise turn-in characteristics for cornering precision.

Blue M Sport brakes are standard with large brake discs for confidently hauling this big beast to a sharp stop.

The standard 21″ light alloy wheels have an exclusive design – and you can choose custom dark blue brake callipers as a no-cost option.

For the style fanatics – choose from the new individual two-tone paint combination finishes including variants of striking matte-sheen frozen paint. Liquid Copper metallic and Sapphire Black is shown here.

There will be no doubt that you’ve selected a flagship model with M-specific design features gracing the BMW kidney grille, bespoke inlays in the rear bumper and M logos on the front side panels; plus the M exterior mirrors with distinctive twin stalk design.

An additional eye catching design element is the indeented sweep down the centre of the bonnte to the upper edge of the grille to draw all attention to the BMW badging.

And for the techno fan – the BMW App and BMW Digital Key Plus allow you to open and close doors from up to 6m away (handy when dashing through the rain from the restaurant entrance).

You can also using the Parking Assistand and Manoeuvre Assistant via the app to enter and exit tight parking spaces with ease.
